Vietnam’s First Event Destination Association Launched: A Strategic Move by Da Nang
DECA – A Launchpad for Da Nang to Tap into the “Gold Mine” of MICE Tourism
As part of the event “Announcement of Da Nang Tourism Stimulus Program and MICE Program 2026” organized by the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the Ariyana International Convention Centre, the Da Nang Event Destination Association (DECA) was officially introduced to the public.

Vietnam’s first Event Destination Association.
Established under the Da Nang Tourism Association, DECA brings together businesses operating in the fields of events, MICE, conferences, exhibitions, art venues, and related services. Sharing further insights, Mr. Le Dinh Nam, Acting Chairman of DECA, stated: "We position DECA as a practical platform for connection, where businesses can share, collaborate, and grow together".
He emphasized that the establishment of DECA is a strategic step that will help accelerate Da Nang’s progress in the MICE tourism sector. International conferences, exhibitions, and events not only generate significant visitor arrivals but also create positive spillover effects for trade, investment, and destination branding.

As a result, many cities are competing to become leading event destinations. DECA is expected to serve as a “soft coordinator” for the city’s event ecosystem by fostering collaboration, standardizing event management capabilities, and gradually positioning Da Nang as a competitive MICE destination within the region.

Mr. Le Dinh Nam, Acting Chairman of DECA, describes the organization as a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the city’s competitive advantage through expanded cooperation.
Ambition to Position Da Nang as a Regional Events Hub
From its early preparation phase, DECA proactively developed a selective international market strategy, focusing on regions with strong MICE tourism potential.
The organization has already participated in and implemented promotional activities across key international markets, including Indonesia through the Jakarta Roadshow, the Philippines through activities in Cebu, and Russia through participation in the MITT Moscow 2026 International Travel Exhibition.
These activities go beyond destination promotion and are designed to establish partnerships with event organizers, travel agencies, and industry associations in each market.
Through these efforts, DECA aims to gradually place Da Nang on the consideration list of international event organizers—a critical factor in attracting large-scale conferences and exhibitions.

DECA’s presence in international markets from the outset also demonstrates its proactive approach, rather than waiting for visitor demand to emerge organically. This strategy supports the organization’s long-term objective of transforming Da Nang into a regional center for events and conferences. Mr. Le Dinh Nam added: "Through stronger collaboration, capability standardization, and increased international presence, Da Nang is expected to gradually evolve from a destination with great potential into a recognized event hub on the regional MICE tourism map".
The Da Nang Event Destination Association (DECA) is a specialized organization operating under the Da Nang Tourism Association. It brings together businesses engaged in events, MICE, conferences, exhibitions, art spaces, and related services. DECA aims to serve as a platform connecting the destination ecosystem, promoting collaboration, and enhancing Da Nang’s competitiveness in both regional and international markets. The official DECA Congress for the 2026–2030 term will be held on March 27, 2026, in Da Nang, marking the transition into its official operational phase with a long-term strategic vision.
